Zushi Surry Hills : Following the success of the original venue, Loopcreative was commissioned to design Zushi’s second restaurant in Surry Hills, creating a contemporary Japanese dining experience centred on craftsmanship, authenticity and a memorable sense of place. The defining architectural feature is a sculptural ceiling installation inspired by a field of traditional Japanese chopsticks. Hundreds of individually positioned timber elements create a dynamic three-dimensional form that appears to float above the dining room, bringing movement, texture and rhythm to the space. The installation transforms a simple everyday object into a distinctive architectural expression and establishes the restaurant’s visual identity. The interior combines warm timber, blackened steel and ambient lighting to create an intimate and energetic atmosphere, while the open sushi bar celebrates the theatre and precision of Japanese cuisine. Carefully layered materials and bespoke detailing reinforce a refined yet approachable aesthetic that complements the dining experience. The result is a hospitality environment where architecture, art and culture converge, creating an immersive destination that is both unmistakably Japanese and uniquely Zushi.
