The Lithgow residence is designed for a rural site west of the Blue Mountains, the Lithgow Residence explores a contemporary interpretation of Australian country architecture through simplicity of form, strong horizontal lines and a restrained material palette. The single-level dual-key residence is organised as a series of interconnected volumes beneath a unifying roof plane, allowing the building to sit comfortably within the natural landscape while accommodating two independent living environments. The planning balances privacy with connection, creating flexible spaces that can adapt to changing family requirements over time. Expansive glazing, deep roof overhangs and carefully framed views strengthen the relationship between the interior and the surrounding landscape. Warm timber cladding is paired with natural stone and large glazed openings to create a refined architectural language that feels both contemporary and enduring. The design embraces passive environmental principles, with orientation, shading and natural ventilation informing the overall composition. Outdoor spaces become a natural extension of the architecture, reinforcing the connection between built form and landscape. The result is a calm, understated residence that reflects its rural context through considered planning, honest materials and a timeless architectural expression.
