At the loopcreative designed Baccio we have created a store that is defined by the sculptural geometric façade which takes it’s inspiration from a range of precious metal jewellery stubled upon during the concept design phase. The interior of the space is sophisticated, luxurious, dark and moody.
The site is a 150sqm prominent corner location on the upper level of the new Westfield Miranda.
We set out to create a piece of iconic sculpture, a shopfront that would define the retail business without the obvious need for traditional retail considerations.
The assembly approach to design provided the design team a new set of challenges and from this our decisions relating to materials were derived. It also allowed us to consider the transportation of the products to site and the materials handling and building movements. As a result we have a built product that maintains the best practices of factory fabrication across into the retail environment. The result being an engineered approach to interior design.
This extra challenge that we set ourselves provided us with a conceptual framework and ensured that the built work maintained a consistent reference to the initial design phase. This is a concept that has been created with a nod to the craftsman jeweler in mind.
the project was shortlisted at the 2015 australian interior design awards : retail category
